Himachal Mitra is a quarterly publication in the service of Himachali people in India and abroad as a medium of expression and exchange of dialogue amongst themselves.  It was born at the initiative of migrant Himchalis in Mumbai who came to Mumbai over the years in search of better life.  Uprooted from their own soil by the hardship and scarcity of mountain life they got rooted in this city of islands by better life opportunity.  By dint of hard labour, enterpreneurship and professional skills, they have settled down, flourished and helped hundreds of others to flourish and settle down over the years. Himachal Mitra is a tribute to their motherland.

No doubt Himachal Mitra was launched in Mumbai, but it belongs to all himachalis living in India and abroad.

So far seven issues of Himachal Mitra are out despite various hurdles and hardship.  In these issues our attempts were to reflect the ethnic culture and problems related to the identity of Himachali language as well as implication of their development. But should Himachal Mitra mirror the aspiration of vast and varied life of Himachali People, it is essential that prosperous and resourceful sons as well as intellectual minds working in various fields of knowledge and skills should relate themselves to Himachal Mitra and find ways and means to patronise and support this venture. It is therefore, our earnest request to them that all Himachalis, whether in India or abroad  should contribute to Himachal Mitra by way of financial help, planning and suggestion, writing and publicising as also discussing the merits and demerits of the publication.
